About the Ruckus R650 Access Point
The RUCKUS R650 is a mid-range Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) indoor access point built for medium-density environments such as office buildings, K-12 classrooms, libraries and retail venues. As a dual-band, dual-concurrent AP it drives six spatial streams — 4x4:4 in 5 GHz and 2x2:2 in 2.4 GHz — reaching a combined peak PHY rate of 2974 Mbps while efficiently managing up to 512 concurrent client connections.
Two signature RUCKUS technologies set the R650 apart from generic enterprise APs: BeamFlex+ adaptive antennas steer each transmission over the cleanest signal path with polarization diversity, while ChannelFly uses machine learning to keep each radio on the least congested channel. Wi-Fi 6 capabilities such as OFDMA, MU-MIMO and Target Wake Time raise real-world capacity in crowded airspace, and the 2.5 GbE backhaul port ensures the wired uplink never becomes the bottleneck. Onboard BLE and Zigbee radios — plus support for a pluggable IoT module — let the same unit double as an IoT gateway.
The R650 powers up on standard 802.3af PoE and delivers full functionality — including the second Ethernet port, IoT radios and USB — on 802.3at PoE+. It can be managed through RUCKUS SmartZone or ZoneDirector controllers, run controller-free with Unleashed, or operate standalone, and it is sold with a limited lifetime warranty.
